Weed Control

Both the Anoka County Park Board and the Lake George Conservation Club have both treated the swim course for weeds. They have been killed back quite a bit already, and it improves every day. The park personnel will also be out at the lake on Thursday with a weed cutting device to cut a swath through the more dense areas. Hopefully this will do the trick and will be better than last year. Otherwise, looks like good weather for race day.

Orbea To Give Away A Bike At the MinneMan

If you stick around after the MinneMan, you could be rewarded with the coolest of door prizes, a new bike. Orbea is going to give away an Alletta tri bike. The Alletta is the perfect tri bike for someone getting started in the sport. It has an aluminum frame and comes loaded with some great components. You can check out all the details here. This bike retails for over $2,000.

Volunteers Needed

We are looking for volunteers to help us out on race day. There are all sorts of jobs to be done. Things like: transition area, finish line, aid station, timing, and more. There are perks to being a volunteer too: special up front parking for all volunteers, lots of free food (bagels, cream cheese, OJ, coffee, and more before the race and more goodies after), nice MinneMan volunteer shirts (all volunteers get techincal shirts this year), and the satisfaction of knowing that you helped put on a great race. If you are going to be at the race with a family member or friend, let me know and I'll put you someplace where you can see them during the race and catch them at the finish line.

If you're interested, please send an e-mail to  This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it with "Volunteer" in the subject line.

MinneMan Wins Race of the Year...Again!!!

The MNTriClub sponsored MinneMan Triathlon captured the Triathlete's Choice for Race of the Year for a historic third year in a row (the first race to win this award three years in a row). This is a really great achievement and we thank everyone who voted for the race. We also thank all the volunteers and club members who help make this race the great race that it has become.

Don't forget, registration for the 2009 MinneMan, which will be on July 4th, opens on January 1, 2009 through Active.com
